Dry Skin Rash

Dry Skin Rash tends to develop mostly in lower legs, thighs, sides of abdomen, arms, etc. Since the dry skin looses moistures, the skin surface gets cracked and rashes develop. The dry areas of the skin becomes red and itchy, resulting into round patches over the limbs, and crazy paving appearances on the lower legs. Sometimes 'winter itch', or '7th age itch' which means just itchy skin without any much skin rash, is developed.

The symptoms of dry skin rashes are just few. If they tend to appear, or if you notice them, please see your doctor before it gets serious. The following are the symptoms of dry skin rash:

Cause of skin rash
The dry skin cracks or rashes are very common in winter. During this time, the skin develops to crack and peels off due to loss of moisture. Thus, irritation and inflammation starts developing in the skin. However, lets look at some other causes:

  • Contact of the skin with harsh soaps, solvents, and detergents.

  • Showers and swims in chlorinated hot or cold water.

  • Under active thyroid gland.

  • Decrease in the natural lubrication.

  • Centralized heating or fan heater.

  • Cold weather, where the humidity is low.

Skin rash treatment
The following are the prescribed steps that could help you to tackle the problems of dry skin and dry skin rashes.

  • Short baths and showers with warm (not hot) water.

  • Limited soap use on the face, arm pits, genitals, if possible.

  • Use of mild cleansers and soaps.

  • Do not the dry skin, just pat it gently.

  • Daily use of oils and moisturizers, especially thick and greasy ones.

During winter, the dry skin rashes are a common problem. In order to prevent the skin from developing skin rashes, you need to switch to non-soap cleansers and prescribed lubricants. There are many medications to avoid skin rashes.
